Mac So Select Vs Twig

It is only a recent occurrence that I have gotten into the whole neutral lipstick thing, but it is easy to say that since I began last September with my Velvet Teddy purchase, the dalliance into something new has become a bit of an obsession! In my defence, I am on the hunt for the perfect neutral lipstick for my wedding day, so it would be rude not to try different shades out.

Never one to not share my new loves, I thought I would share with you, 5 of my favourite neutrals from Mac. When it comes to lipstick, Mac will always have a spot in my heart. When it comes to a lipstick finish, I firmly believe that Mac satin finish lipsticks are worth every single penny. All these lipsticks cost €19.50.

Apr 16, 2016 MAC Mehr vs Twig. Mehr is a brown toned rose shade that has a matte finish, but it's not dry on the lips because it's pretty creamy, and glides on smoothly. Twig is a pink toned brown with a satin finish so it has a slight sheen, but I wouldn't say it's glossy. It's not drying on the lips and because of the creamy texture it glides on. Jul 18, 2013 - MAC Twig vs MAC Cosmo Lipstick Photos, Swatches: MAC Twig lipstick and MAC Cosmo lipstick are sisters but not twins. I was quite confused myself. I am so keen to get Twig. The shade I think will complement my Indian tone skin quite well.It will be my first ever MAC lipstick purchase so I am going to purchase it for myself for Christmas as a gift to myself 🙂 I may get the Revlon in Sultry though to see whether I like the similar shade enough.

Have a peak at the lipsticks below and if you can think of the perfect bridal lipstick I should try, leave a comment down below.

Viva Glam II

Viva Glam II is a very recent purchase, but my god it is a real beauty. Literally from the minute I put this on my lips it was love at first sight. This is a beautiful nude mauve colour, with the tiniest hint of shimmer. Like most of the lipsticks I have included in this post, it is a satin finish, so lasts really well on the lips. If you're looking for the perfect 90s retro lipstick, then this is it! I like to pair it up with NYX Peekaboo pink lipliner.

Brave

This is another one of those lipsticks that Kylie Jenner claims she used to give her the oversized lip look.Hmmmm. Brave is a soft, rosy pink toned lipstick, with a satin finish. I absolutely adore this lipstick. Right now this is top of my list of possible wedding lipsticks. I love to wear Mac Edge to edge lipliner all over the lid, with Brave on top.

Velvet Teddy

This is hands down my most worn lipstick in the last 6 months. I love this lipstick! Velvet Teddy is described as a deep toned beige colour with a matte finish to it. Do not be put off by the matte finish, as this is extremely comfortable to wear, glides on easily and as it is a matte, it is very long lasting. There is a small bit of drying on the lips, but nothing that is uncomfortable and to be honest, it is worth it for the longevity that a matte lipstick gives. I love to wear this with Mac Spice lipliner You can read a full review here

Creame cup

This lipstick is a serious cult classic. This is a creme sheen lipstick that feels quite creamy on first impression. It is a blue toned pink nude colour, which makes it perfect for Irish skin. I have worn this so much the past month. This is the perfect lipstick for day time. I love to wear it with Rimmel Eastend snob lipliner all over the lid and creame cup on top.

Snob

Mac so select vs twig tree

Looking for more of a pink toned neutral, then Snob is the colour for you. This is a light neutral blue toned pink. I find that it is a little on the cool toned, so I don't use it as a day to day lipstick, but more of a summer time pop of pink. It is a a satin finish and lasts for ages on the lips. Be warned, this can look a little Barbie pink at times, but I love it. I wear it with Rimmel East end snob to line the lips

Sleek Matte Me Lip Creams

When it comes to liquid lipsticks it seems there isn't a brand out there that hasn't tried it's hand at creating the perfect product. From high end to budget brands, they all have their own range of liquid lipsticks, with varying levels of success. However, when it comes to liquid lipsticks, in my eyes the budget brands are winning hands down when it comes to quality, colour range, and everything else in between. The Sleek Matte Me lip creams are top of my list when it comes to liquid lipsticks. If you're in the market for a lip product that glides onto the lips, dries matte and lasts for hours,…

It is overwhelming standing in front of a packed stand and not knowing what to buy. So here are my top picks from NYX, so you know exactly what to pick up on your next trip to a NYX stand Butter Gloss I have actually lost count at of how many of these I have. There are 12 different colours in this collection, with a colour to suit everyone and at this stage it could easily be 8 or 9 that I own.…

Going nude and loving it

So here's the thing. Never, ever, ever, go shopping with a beauty blogger. I mean ever!! Your bank balance won't be the better for it. Last Saturday I went shopping with Kat from Sophistikat.ie and to say she was an enabler would be an understatement. However, I regret nothing!! Of course I need 5 nude lipsticks and a lip pencil. If they had of had the colours I wanted in stock, there would have been even more in this haul. I have only recently gotten into the nude lipstick thing and before this haul I only owned 2 nude lipsticks. I mean that's shameful for a beauty blogger. So when it boils…

Too Faced Melted Liquified long wear lipstick – melted violet

I tip my hat to the PR gurus behind the Too Faced Melted lipsticks, as at the start of the summer my timeline was flooded with reviews of these lipsticks. These were hailed as the new must have lip product. Every single person was raving about them and I had a feeling that my life wouldn't be complete without at least one of them my life. These lipsticks are said to give you the best of a lipstick and lip gloss in one product. Seriously this had my name written all over it. Not only that, but the colours in this range are to die for. They are vibrant and…

The Balm, Meet Matte Hughes review

For the past 18 months, there has been a constant stream of liquid lipstick releases. While we have seen some new regular lipsticks released, such as the Vice lipsticks, for the most part, brands have focused on capturing the popular liquid lipstick market. Yet not all releases are worth buying. Sometimes they are too drying, crack on the lips, wear badly, bleed, the list is endless and yet sometimes liquid lipsticks tick all the right boxes. The Meet Matt(E) Huges collection is one of those liquid lipstick ranges that just ticks all the right boxes. Released last year, with new colours added in recent months, the most popular shades of these…

The Queen of all lipsticks. Mac Ruby Woo

I convinced myself for a long time that I didn't need this lipstick. I already had two beautiful red lipsticks that I loved and sure what does a girl need with another read lipstick? Yet the more I saw this lipstick on people, the more I knew it had to be mine. While in Florida last July, I finally took the plunge and my god I am so happy I did. This is honestly one of the most beautiful lipsticks I have ever tried. Actually scratch that, this is literally the Queen of all lipsticks. If you catch yourself looking at celebrities fab red lips on the red carpet, you…

Mac So Select Vs Twig Wood

Truth: MAC Cosmetics make some of the best lipsticks in the market. I'm ashamed (or proud?) to say I've collected over 20 so far, and I always have at least one on my makeup wish list at any given time. What makes them so amazing? Firstly, they have almost any shade a lipstick lover could possibly want; and they have it in a variety of finishes. Although I have a healthy assortment when it comes to the colour spectrum, my favourites – and the ones I reach for the most – are all neutral shades. Will I ever get over warm nudes? Probably not, so I thought I would share my top 5!

Lipsticks are lined up from 1 to 5, left to right.

1. Velvet Teddy

Of course I had to start my list of with arguably one of MAC's most popular nude lipsticks of all time! Even though it's been well over a year since the Kylie Jenner hype begun (along with the obsession with her lips), I think it's safe to say Velvet Teddy is more often than not usually sold out at the counters. It's described as a ‘deep-toned beige' with a matte finish, with a rosy warm undertone. It's one of those shades that looks so different on everybody; on me it definitely pulls rosy-beige. It's one of the most comfortable matte lipsticks I own as it's very creamy, comfortable and non-drying on the lips. If you're looking for a new nude, you can't go wrong with Velvet Teddy. It's a crowd pleaser.

2. Spirit

I go through phases where I'm 100% certain Velvet Teddy is my favourite nude, but as soon as I use Spirit again, I'm not so sure. Spirit is definitely Velvet Teddy's sister, just a smidgen browner, and a satin finish as opposed to matte. It's described as a pinky-beige brown, which is spot on. Oddly enough, even though this is a satin finish I do find it less creamy than Velvet Teddy, but comfortable to wear all the same. When I want a nude that pulls more brown than pink, this is my pick. It's a great one for day and night – it just goes with any makeup look!

3. Taupe

I don't reach for this one anywhere near enough and every time I do, I kick myself because it's so damn beautiful. MAC describes it as a reddish taupe brown, and it is a matte finish. I love Taupe for its uniqueness – I can't say I've seen many lipsticks similar to this shade around. It's one that many skin tones can work with, from fair through to dark, and it makes for the perfect Autumnal lipstick.

4. Persistence

Even I will admit it's not too different to Taupe on the lips, except I find it has a little less of a red undertone and it's a little bit more orange (although it photographed super brown on my arm for some reason!). Persistence is described as a peachy cinnamon with a matte finish. It's very pigmented and glides onto the lips with a lot of ease. I think it's a really different neutral and one that can be worn all year around.

Mac So Select Vs Twig Blight

5. Twig

Described as a soft muted brown pink with a satin finish, Twig is the perfect MLBB shade. It's a great everyday colour (very long lasting!) and one of my favourite transitional shades.

If you have a medium skin tone like me, these will be perfect for you. Now you tell me – what are your favourite MAC neutrals?
